Alison Offenburger Florea was an outstanding player for both Thomas Worthington High School and Denison University. Her TW teams were Midwest Runners-up in 1993-94-95. She was a two-time high school All American and played in the National North/South All Star game. At Denison University her teams won the NCAC in 1996 and 1999 and were runners-up in ’97 and ’98. She was named All American in 1998 & 99. Her NCAC honors were numerous, including Freshman of the Year, four-time NCAC First team, NCAC Player of the Year. In 2004 she was named to the NCAC All Decade Team and in 2013 she was inducted into the Denison University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Florea has been an assistant coach at Washington and Lee University, Ohio University, and Thomas Worthington High School. She is currently an assistant coach at Worthington Kilbourne High School.
Following his playing career at Denison University, J. Stewart Lewis started the Southern Ohio Lacrosse Club in 1973. As the game grew in Southern Ohio, Stewart was a volunteer coach for both high school boys and girls lacrosse in Cincinnati. Help helped to start both the boys and girls programs at Seven Hills. He also coached Midwest/Ohio teams at the US Lacrosse National Tournament. Lewis has been a fixture at various summer camps and clinics in the Cincinnati area for more than two decades. In 2015 Lewis became involved in youth lacrosse with this Cincinnati Royals girls youth lacrosse academy teaching the game to 5th and 6th grade girls. In 2015 he became the coach of the Xavier University Women’s Club program. His team finished third in the WCLL tournament in 2019. He continues to serve lacrosse in the Cincinnati area working with youth coaches and providing information through the website QCGLax.com.
Kimberly Lowe McCalla, as captain, lead the Ohio State University program to a ALC Championship in 2003. The consummate defender, she was selected to several All American teams in 2003. She was a four year letter winner and received both the Alex Shumate and Jesse Owens awards for Dedication. Leadership and Character.
Following her playing days she served as an assistant coach for the Lucky Lax club team and spent twelve years as an official at all levels, youth, high school, and college. She has been a board member Varsity “O” Alumni Society and a color analyst for the Big Ten Network.
Allyson McCarthy Minister played for Thomas Worthington High School and the Miami University Club team, but she has continued to give back to the sport since her playing days. She was an assistant and then head coach for the Thomas Worthington taking her team to the OLSA semi-finals in 2006 and 2009, and was a regional finalist five times. She was named OCC Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
Since her high school coaching days, Ally has dedicated her lacrosse activity to growing the central Ohio Youth program. She is the founder of the Central Ohio Girls Youth Lacrosse Association. She is currently the Girls Lacrosse Director for the Worthington Youth Boosters and is a former Board member of the Central Ohio Chapter of USA Lacrosse. She is also a certified trainer for the USA Lacrosse Coach Development program. Ally has presented programs at various lacrosse conventions and clinics and is the founder of the Worthington “Little Laxers” program.
Ann Elliot Whidden has won championships at both the high school and collegiate level. She was a four year starter for the Shaker Heights Red Raiders and her teams never lost a conference game during that time. Shaker won state championships in 2001 and 2003, and where runners-up in 2000. She was a high school All American, and the MVP of the 2001 OSLA State Tournament.
At Northwestern University she won three NCAA Championships, 2005, 06, 07. The Wildcats also won four consecutive conference championships. She was named an Inside Lacrosse All American in 2007. Ann was a three time Big Ten All Academic . She also served as an assistant coach for the USA U-19 team that won the World Cup Gold Medal in 2019. She is currently the head women’s lacrosse coach at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction banquet will be held on June 11, 2022 at the Ohio Union on the Ohio State University campus. The banquet is open to all lacrosse fans. In addition to honoring our Class of 2022, the Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame will also continue its tradition of honoring Ohio's boys and girls High School All Americans.
